From Confusion to Confidence: Electrical Engineering Journey

From Confusion to Confidence: Electrical Engineering Journey

Learn how an engineer grew through real challenges and now trains 500+ professionals in electrical design and substation projects.

My Journey as an Electrical Engineer

I’m Jeyakumar Velusamy.

An Electrical Design Engineer and trainer with over 16+ years of industry experience.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on 250+ electrical engineering consultancy projects across India, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Europe, and the UK.

My work has covered:

  • Substation design

  • Grounding and lightning protection

  • Power system studies

  • EPC project execution

But honestly…

My journey wasn’t always this confident.

Where It All Started

Like many engineers, my journey began with uncertainty.

In the early stages of my career, I often found myself:

  • Struggling to interpret electrical design problems

  • Facing challenges with tools like ETAP and CDEGS

  • Feeling hesitant during client interactions

  • Questioning my own capabilities

The most significant challenge, however, was the absence of guidance.

I did not have a mentor to direct me or simplify complex concepts.

As a result, I learned through experience—by making mistakes, working through long nights, and gaining insights from demanding site conditions.

While the path was not easy, it played a crucial role in shaping my practical understanding and professional resilience.

Why I Started Teaching

Early in my career, I experienced the challenges that many engineers still face today—lack of clarity, limited guidance, and low confidence in practical applications.

Over time, I realized that these challenges are not individual, but widespread.

This insight led me to take a different direction:

To support and guide engineers so they can progress faster and more confidently.

Today, I dedicate my efforts to helping engineers become:

  • Skilled in their domain

  • Confident in their approach

  • Ready for real-world responsibilities

So far, I have trained over 500+ professionals through:

  • Live programs

  • Hands-on workshops

  • One-on-one mentoring

What I Bring to You

When I teach, I don’t teach theory alone.

I bring real-world experience from actual projects.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Practical knowledge from EPC and design projects

  • Hands-on training in:
    • ETAP

    • CDEGS (MALZ)

    • AutoCAD

    • Dialux EVO

  • Understanding of IEC and IEEE standards

  • Real case studies from:
    • Substations

    • Refineries

    • Solar plants

    • Utilities

And most importantly…

I break down complex concepts into simple, step-by-step learning.

Beyond Technical Skills

Over time, I’ve realized something important.

Most engineers don’t fail because of lack of knowledge.

They struggle because of:

  • Lack of confidence

  • Fear of real-world challenges

  • Difficulty in handling clients and interviews

That’s why my focus is not just on teaching concepts.

I help you:

  • Think like an engineer

  • Handle real-world situations

  • Build confidence in your skills

My Mission

My mission is to empower engineers to:

  • Independently initiate and execute engineering projects

  • Effectively solve real-world design challenges

  • Excel in interviews and confidently handle client interactions

  • Transition from confusion to clarity in technical understanding

  • Build confidence by overcoming fear and self-doubt

A Message to Every Engineer
